への１６kmの道のりです。
2nd day, we will walk 16 km from Glade House to Pompolona Lodge.

昨日さんざん写真撮った吊橋を渡ります。

Here is just begging of trek.....
We will walk along the Clinton River.
何かわかりませんが、サルノコシカケの上の黄色いツブツブ。
たくさんの木々が大雨などで倒れたり流されてしまうそうです。
年間7000-8000ミリ。東京の５倍、屋久島の２倍なんだから大変な降水量です。
Lot of trees are fallen because of heavy rainfall of Milford sound (7000-8000 mm/ year, 5 times of Tokyo, double of Yakushima island).
昨日森を歩いているときに時々聞こえたメキッて音は木が割れている音です、と言われて信じられなかったけれど、
こういうことですね。
I could not believe that the explanation of "cracking sound of tree" when I heard strange sound in the forest walk yesterday.
But I believe it now.
Just 1 Mile....(1.6 km)
次は大赤ブナの木です。
Next point, Large Red Beech Tree.
これではありません
This is not large tree...
これが、多分赤ブナの木です。
樹齢６００年、直径１．５M以上あります。
この環境の中で６００年生きてきているというのは本当にすごいこと。
May be This is Large Red Beech Tree.
600 years old.
Diameter is over 1.5 M.
How difficult to live 600 years considering very severe environment ?
で、多分さっきのが問題の木のはずですが、奥にもう１本別の木がありまして、

ちょっとだけふざけて遊んでもらい、

戻らなくてはなりませんね。

生き物が生き物を宿す
目をつぶって息を吸うだけ、
澄んだ空気の中に身を浸すだけでそれが感じられる森が大好きです。

we can feel that creatures create creatures.
